It finally feels like we are slowly getting back to normal.  It is definitely noticeable how many more people are out and about and without masks for the first time in over a year.  More events and activities are starting up again. This past weekend I was able to participate in a race for the first time in well over a year.

On June 19, 2021 I participated in the Patriot Half IronMan held at Cathedral Camp in East Freetown, MA.  This year I entered as part of a three-person relay team.  I joined my team mates from Karma Endurance (www.KarmaEndurance.com ) to complete the 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run.

Lily Biro did our swim, I did the bike portion and Kevin Provencher did the run.  Relays are always a lot of fun.  Relay results: https://www.allsportsevents.com/results/patriot-half-triathlon-2021/#/race/dbLfq8/HalfRELAY

Breno Melo our team “Pro” Triathlete won the overall race. https://www.allsportsevents.com/results/patriot-half-triathlon-2021/#/race/dbLfq8/HalfIND/

I found doing the race on a relay team even more fun that doing it solo.  If you like to swim, bike or run I encourage you to grab a few of your friends and sign up for an event.  It really does feel good to get back out there and get involved in an event again.

One more thing…if you are out there cycling, please wear a helmet.  Just watching the first week of this year’s Tour De-France reminds me that while cycling is an excellent form of exercise it can be dangerous.  See this previous Blog: https://performancehealthcenter.com/2019/06/please-wear-a-helmet/
