Guest Blog:    A NEW Migraine App

People make choices.  Some people get frustrated; others get fascinated when faced with challenges.  Below is our first ever guest Blog from a soon to be college freshman.  There are many triggers for Migraines headaches.  So for many years Wyatt avoided as many of the known triggers as possible, including avoiding chocolate L.  After years of suffering from Migraines, Wyatt scientifically figured out that his trigger was dehydration.  To help others determine their Migraine triggers, he created an App which assists Migraine sufferers track their attacks.  It is simple to use and be a great aide in identifying Migraine triggers.  Way to go Wyatt!!!!  Good luck at Northwestern University!!!

MyMigraine- An App to Uncover Your Migraine Triggers

I began suffering from severe migraine headaches at ten years old. At first, I had no idea what triggered my episodes. I visited numerous doctors, attempted acupuncture and biofeedback, and even restricted certain foods. I eventually realized my migraines began during or after exercise, which led me to believe dehydration may be the catalyst. So, as a freshman in high school, I came up with a hypothesis–that a bottle of Gatorade a day would keep the migraines away–and I decided to test it. Over the course of a year, my number of migraines decreased dramatically, from twenty-two to four. Three years later, I still drink twenty ounces of Gatorade every morning, being sure to begin each day hydrated. Now that I know my trigger, I rarely get migraines

In order to help other people with their migraines, I created MyMigraine: an iOS (iPhone, iPad, etc.) application to help people find out what their personal migraine triggers are, so that they can live with fewer migraines. MyMigraine is FREE and very easy to use.

To Use MyMigraine:
The user submits a new entry (after they get a migraine) by clicking the “New Entry” button on the home screen. The user enters in information surrounding the time of the migraine (up to 72 hours before), such as how much they slept the night before, the weather, what they ate, and how much water they drank.

MyMigraine logs all of the users migraines in the “All Entries” page located on the home page. MyMigraine then analyzes the data and produces a list of the user’s most likely triggers. Additionally, MyMigraine provides the user with information on various triggers, such as why they cause migraines and how to avoid them.
