There’s supplement that relieves symptoms related to perimenopause
Perimenopause is no walk in the park. It can make those who suffer incredibly uncomfortable. Between night sweats, hot flashes, irritability, irregularity in the menstrual cycle, fatigue, cramping, digestive issues, hair loss….the list goes on, but it doesn’t have to!!!
I am proud to announce that Performance Health Center is now carrying Estrovera, which contains Siberian rhubarb which helps to control the symptoms related to perimenopause.
Siberian Rhubarb (also known as Rhaptonic Rhubarb) has shown to be reduce all of the aforementioned symptoms. It is a phytoestrogen, which has the same effect as estrogen but does not actually contain this active ingredient. It has been used in Germany since 1993 as an alternative to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Fortunately, it does not have the side effects that HRT has (some of which are very alarming!).
A literature review of 23 articles written by Mark Kaye, D.C., the Director of Clinical Services at Metagenics and naturopath, Kristen Haabala, N.D. was performed. They stated:
“Menopausal symptoms typically fall into 3 categories with hot flashes being the most common and potentially debilitating. Nearly 80% of women in Western countries suffer from hot flashes, with 30% reporting hot flashes severe and frequent enough to seriously affect quality of life. Emerging research found that severity of hot flashes is associated with endothelial dysfunction, which contributes to early stages of atherosclerosis. The decline in estrogen during this transition also puts women at risk for multiple diseases and other functional abnormalities such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease.6,7”
“Clinical trials have demonstrated that 1 tablet (4 mg) daily of the Siberian rhubarb root extract offers significantly effective relief vs placebo for the 11 most common menopausal symptoms, including hot flashes. Participating women have reported symptom reduction that continues over 3, 6, 12, and 24 months to help improve quality of life through additional improvements in sleep quality and reduced anxiety and depression.”
I will speak from personal experience—I have been using Siberian rhubarb the past two years and have found more relief from this product than I ever did with Dong Quai and Wild Yam, which are also used for perimenopauseal women.
